Service Description

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported 8-week course designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing. Numerous research studies show that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing, coping with life challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and more satisfying personal relationships. It is an inner strength that enables us to be more fully human—more fully ourselves. Recent research by Kristin Neff (2020)in healthcare populations has shown that MSC has been effective in dealing with caregiver fatigue and secondary traumatisation. That micro-self care practices can be used while we are facing our caregiving challenges as health-care providers. The teacher and participants will be live and visible at various times. There will be group and one-to-one interaction as you would expect in a traditional classroom setting. No prior mindfulness or self-compassion experience is required. This course is a live online course, with participant discussion and reflection. Sessions are not recorded, There is up to ½ hour per day of home practice of mindfulness and self-compassion exercises recommended during the course. Attendance at 7 of the 9 sessions is required for a certificate of completion.
